Clay falls to Waverly, 3-1

The Clay Lady Panthers came up a couple of runs short Tuesday evening, as they fell to the Waverly Lady Tigers 3-1.

After starting the game with a run in the first inning, the Lady Panthers were unable to get any other runners across the plate, resulting in the loss.

Waverly’s Howard got the win, as she went all seven innings, allowing only one run, which was unearned. Jensen Warnock was the pitcher of record for Clay.

Warnock scored the lone Clay run Tuesday evening, and went 2-4 from the plate. Rachel Cooper finished 1-3 on the night, highlighted by a triple.

Howard led the Lady Tigers in hitting, going 3-4 on the night.

The Lady Panthers will be in action again on Friday evening, when they travel to Latham, Ohio to take on SOC I rival, the Western Lady Indians. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.

After the loss, Clay’s record falls to 7-3 over all, and 4-0 in the SOC I.
