IRONTON – The Notre Dame Titans held off the Ironton St Joseph Flyers Tuesday evening, as they picked up their second win in as many nights since returning from Vero Beach, Florida.

The visiting Titans wasted little time putting runs on the board. After two innings, Notre Dame held a four-run lead over St Joseph, 5-1.

The Titans increased their lead in the fourth inning, as they added three more runs. Leading 8-1, Notre Dame had full control of the game.

St. Joseph would fire back though, refusing to give up. The Flyers were able to score three times in the sixth inning, cutting their seven-run deficit to four runs, 8-4.

After blanking the Titans in the seventh inning, the Flyers hoped to better their sixth inning performance to at least score four runs and keep the game going.

St. Joseph only got one run in on Notre Dame in the seventh and final inning. As a result, the Titans held on, and defeated the Flyers 8-5.

Tyler Speas had another great night hitting, going 3-3 and knocking in two runs for the Titans. This was the second consecutive three-hit game for Speas.

Sam Kayser was perfect from the plate, as he finished the night 4-4. Kayser scored two runs, and drove in one run.

CJ Corns and Drew Cassidy each had a pair of hits, as Corns scored twice, while Cassidy brought in three runs and scored once.

Cassidy was also impressive on the mound, pitching four and one third innings, allowing only four hits and one run, which was unearned. He walked three batters, and struck out seven Flyers throughout the night.

The Titans will travel to Latham, Ohio Friday evening to take on the Western Indians in an SOC I match-up. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
