It was a heartbreaking loss for the Portsmouth Trojans Friday night, as the Fairland Dragons defeated the Trojans in an overtime thriller, 75-72. As a result of the loss, the Trojans are no longer in the hunt for the Ohio Valley Conference title. Fairland clinched at least a share of the OVC title after their win Friday night.
The Trojans had three players reach double figures in the loss to Fairland.
Ky’re Allison led Portsmouth in scoring, as he added 20 points to his ever increasing varsity point total. Allison finished just shy of a double-double, as he pulled down nine rebounds in the contest.
Kendal Reynolds added 16 points to the Trojan cause Friday night. He also grabbed seven rebounds in the loss.
Mike Malone had a good night on the hardwood, as he put up 14 points against the Dragons.
Fairland had several players reach double figures in their overtime win against Portsmouth.
Kollin Van Horn led all players with 23 points Friday night, and earned a double-double by grabbing 16 rebounds. Van Horn was one of two Dragons to earn a double-double against the Trojans.
Isaiah Howell also earned a double-double, as he scored 13 points and had 14 rebounds.
Luke Thomas had a great night for Fairland, as he ended the night with 19 points for the Dragons.
After trailing all throughout the game, the Dragons started the fourth quarter with a 13-0 run to erase Portsmouth’s lead, and tie the game. From there, they forced overtime, and then outscored Portsmouth once again in the extra period to earn their 75-72 win.
