The Clark Pump and Shop located at 2626 Gallia St. in Portsmouth held a grand opening and ribbon cutting with a celebration that kept the customers coming in one by one. The cost of the new store is $1.7 million to complete.
Cheryl Floyd, supervisor of Clark Pump and Shop, said they are excited about the grand opening and have a variety of things for their customers. The owners of Clark Pump and Shop are John Clark, Rick Clark, Brent Clark, and the late Rodney Clark.
“Today is our grand opening and we are very excited about that,” Floyd said. “We are having a lot of give-aways, a big screen television, fishing poles, the race car of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is here on display. There is just something for everyone. We are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
There are currently 13 employees, but Floyd said they are always hiring.
In addition to offering all grades of fuel, the store is stocked with a plethora of items from coffee to snacks, to food items for every meal and beverages of every kind.
WNXT Radio State was present for a live remote, tents were set up for opportunities to win prizes, including spinning the Ohio Lottery wheel. A variety of goodies including hot dogs, donuts, ice cream and even cotton candy were made available as customers visited the new store.

“I am really thrilled to be here in Portsmouth area, this is really an outstanding location for us, so I am very well pleased,” Clark said. “We also have stores in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Florida.”
Lisa Carver, executive director of the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, said the new Clark Pump and Shop is an asset to the local area.
“We are glad to welcome the Clark family to the Portsmouth area, I understand they have stores in four states now,” Carver said. “So this is a great addition, and I hope that busy is good.”
