Heroin seizure made by troopers in Scioto County traffic stop


Troopers stopped a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, with Ohio registration, for an equipment violation on U.S. 23 southbound, near milepost 8, in Scioto County at 2:13 p.m., on May 9. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed 200 grams of heroin. The contraband has a street value of $20,000. The driver, Janiece Spencer, 19, of Lima, Ohio, and passenger, Rashad D. Davis, 24, of Fremont, Ohio were incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail and charged with possession of heroin, and trafficking in drugs, both first-degree felonies.
