Donini asks for “Facebook” restraints

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini is finding himself in the precarious situation of having to respond to Facebook conversations.

Donini told the Daily Times Thursday that there have been repeated inquiries from residents of Scioto County along with major news media outlets concerning “Facebook” conversation where subjects have reported that there is a connection between the Pike County multiple homicide investigation and the Scioto County double homicide investigation into the deaths of Candace Newsome, 48 and her 16 year old daughter Kristina M. Newsome of 4098 Blue Run Road, Lucasville, killed on Jan. 4, 2016.

“I would like to emphasize that at this time there is absolutely no truth to this rumor,” Donini said. “The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI&I) assisted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office in processing the Newsome crime scene and is very familiar with the evidence and at this time there is no evidence to make a connection between the two cases.”

Donini is asking the public to refrain from circulating what he terms “unverified” facts concerning the two ongoing investigations. He said to continue to circulate rumors only hampers the investigation and fuels hysteria within the community.

Donini said anyone who may have information concerning the double homicide investigation is encouraged to contact detective Dan Malone at 740-351-1099.
