NBPD charges Rodney White II with robbery

New Boston Police have responded quickly to a robbery and have already officially obtained an arrest warrant from Portsmouth Municipal Court charging Rodney G. White II with the aggravated robbery of Blackburn’s Fuel Stop.

“We have received information that he could have fled to the Proctorville, Ohio and Huntington, West Virginia areas where he has family and friends in those areas,” Captain Steve Goins of the New Boston Police Department said. “We believe White is driving the maroon Kia Sedona with Ohio license plate number GSG-6136.”

Goins credited the Daily Times article on the robbery on Facebook. As a result of that posting, New Boston Police received a good tip and lead as to the owner of the van and suspect. It is the reaction by the community to important stories such as the New Boston robbery that prompted a response from the paper’s management.

“Social media is a viable platform for the Daily Times in providing local news by our local reporters to our community,” Daily Times Publisher Hope Comer said. “I want to thank the community for the response this past weekend – we exceeded 11,000 Likes. If you’re not one of them, what are you waiting on? Go Like our page for exclusive content, breaking news and more.”

Goins said the NBPD will enter Rodney White into NCIC crime data computer as a wanted fugitive. He went onto say anyone with information as to the whereabouts of White should contact the New Boston Police Department at 740-456-4109.
