New Boston Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man they believe to have robbed a store. The NBPD sent a surveillance photo to the Daily Times purported to show the robber.

On Sunday morning, April 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., New Boston Police Captain Steve Goins said New Boston Police Department officers officers responded to the report of an aggravated robbery with a weapon call to the Blackburn Fuel Stop in the 3500 block of Rhodes Avenue.

Goins said, on arrival, Officer Robert Deerfield found that a white male suspect came into the store and asked to buy some cigarettes and when the owner Gary Blackburn turned around to get the cigarettes from the shelf and then rang them up on the cash register.

That is when the suspect reportedly pulled out a long blade knife and pointed it at Blackburn and demanded money from the register. The suspect while holding the knife on Blackburn, reached over and grabbed the money, then ran out of the store. Blackburn was not injured.

The suspect reportedly ran across the street to a waiting vehicle with another suspect driver and got into the vehicle and left the scene, going west bound towards Portsmouth.

The suspect’s getaway vehicle is a dark red to burgundy Chevrolet mini van with distinctive old damage to the passenger front side where some of the front bumper is missing and damaged. The vehicle also has a sunroof and luggage racks on top.

Anyone with any information on the robbery suspect or robbery suspect vehicle can call the NBPD Dispatch at 740-456-4109 and ask to speak with a police officer or you can leave that information with the dispatcher.
