RUSSELL, Ky. — A local woman was a victim of purse-snatching at a Kroger store in Russell, Ky.on Sunday, April 17.
Dena Brewer, 36, of Greenup, Ky., and Williams Fitzwater, 37, also of Greenup, Ky. were arrested in connection to the crime, according to reports from the Greenup County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD).
Authorities said the female victim was loading groceries into her vehicle on the parking lot of Kroger in Russell, Ky. when her purse was snatched by Fitzwater, the vehicle however, did provide a struggle to retain her property, ended up inside of the suspect’s’ vehicle, and was drugged down the road for a short distance.
The suspects’ vehicle involved in the crime allegedly committed by Brewer and Fitzwater was identified by the GCSD at the intersection of KY 1 and US 23 several hours later. Initially, Brewer and Fitzwater were taken in for questioning by the Russell Police Department, and were afterwards arrested and transported to the Greenup County Detention Center.
