Cindy Gibson was sworn into office as a member of the Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities at the board’s regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 17.
Scioto County Commissioner Mike Crabtree administered the oath of office to Gibson, who has experience with the SCBDD agency through her son, who has utilized services offered by the board.
Gibson is an artist and entrepreneur who lives in South Webster. She is a gifted muralist who attended the Columbus College of Art and Design.
“We are very pleased to have our Board whole and look forward to working with Mrs. Gibson,” said Superintendent Julie Monroe. “I think her personal experience as a parent of an adult with a developmental disability will be valuable to the Board as we make decisions about the future.”
Gibson will serve out the remainder of Stephanie Childers’ term, which ends December 2017. Childers passed away in 2015.
The next regular monthly meeting of the SCBDD will be 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at STAR, Inc., 2625 Gallia St. Portsmouth.
