Troopers find heroin, pills

Troopers stopped a 2016 Jeep Patriot, with West Virginia registration, for a marked lanes violation on U.S. 23 southbound in Scioto County at 11:04 p.m., on March 15. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed a magnetic box containing 26 grams of heroin and 101 Alprazolam pills. The contraband has a street value of $3,000. The driver, Lawrence E. Nelson, 44, of Huntington, W. Va., was incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail and charged with possession of heroin and trafficking in drugs, both second-degree felonies.
