Sheriff still seeking info on missing woman

The Daily Times first reported 25-year-old Kayla Eitel missing at the end of January. Since then, follow-ups with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office have netted limited information, but not for lack of trying on their part.

“I talked to Jodi and got an update concerning this case today (Friday),” Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini told the Daily Times. “There really is no significant change in resolving this case. What I can say is that Detective Conkel has and continues to invest tons of time in this case by following up on every lead she receives.”

Donini said Conkel actually assisted in creating the missing persons poster on the AG’s website.

Donini said a couple of weeks ago a 15-year-old girl reported observing Eitel at a church in Portsmouth, but when Conkel followed up on the report, it did not pan out.

“Jodi had intended to make arrangements to attend the church one Sunday in hopes of personally identifying the subject who the fifteen year old was alleging was Kayla,” Donini said. “Jodi changed her plans and decided to speak with subjects who had contact with members who attend the church on a regular basis and learned that none of church members had ever seen anyone at their church matching the description of Kayla.”

The woman who placed the missing person call reported that her daughter was last seen with a friend at 75 Pershing Avenue on Jan. 4, 2016.

Anyone with information as to Kayla Eitel’s whereabouts should contact Conkel at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
