WURTLAND, Ky. — Helping Hands of Greenup County (HHGC) will be hosting a Holiday Auction Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at the UK Extension Office, located at 35 Wurtland Ave. in Wurtland, Ky. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The Holiday Auction will offer 250 items, and the concession will open at 6 p.m. as well. Manager, said the event is the way that HHGC is able assist families in need.
“This is our annual Holiday Auction, and doors open at 6, and the auction begins at 7. This is all for the mission of Helping Hands, to help provide utility assistance, and help with food and clothing for families in Greenup County, and the needs have increased over the last year, and donations have decreased,” Blevins said. “Our goal is to raise $2,000 dollars. We have 250 items, and this is one of the ways that we are trying to keep up.”
Cindi Evans, staff person at HHGC, said community support is needed for the Holiday Auction.
“We are really looking forward to hosting the Holiday Auction, we have been receiving a tremendous amount of support from local businesses,” Evans said. “There will be so many items to choose from to purchase, including UK items, a lot of gift ideas and toys. This event helps to providing ongoing assistance to families throughout the year, so we are hopeful that the community will come out and support this event.”
Cindi’s Super Sale that is open at 6 p.m. as well, which will provide a host of great brand new items. The auction begins at 7 p.m. and will run until approximately 9 p.m. with auctioneer Don Gliem.
More than 250 items will be available for the auction, consisting of items from two estates, including entertainment memorabilia and movies, roll top desk and other furniture, artwork, crystal, gift ideas, toys, games, quilts, hats, heaters, dishes, afghans, décor, and antiques.
