Fatal crash in Pike County

CHILLICOTHE – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Morgans Fork Road in Pike County, Ohio. On Oct. 22, 2016, at 0757 hours, the Jackson Dispatch Center received a report of an injury crash on Morgans Fork Road.

A 2001 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Donald E. Leeth, 54 of Bainbridge, Ohio, was traveling south on Morgans Fork Road. Mr. Leeth went off the right side of the road, hit a culvert, and struck a couple trees. Mr. Leeth was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Leeth was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.

Assisting on the scene: Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Pike County EMS, and Benton TWP Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation. Motorist are reminded to always wear your seatbelt.
