Canada Open 2024 badminton, live streaming: Lakshya Sen to defend title – where to watch

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lakshya Sen will lead the Indian challenge at the Canada Open 2024 badminton tournament, which gets underway at the Markin-MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Canada on Tuesday.

Canada Open badminton matches will be available on live streaming and live telecast in India.

Sen, 14th in the latest world badminton rankings, is the defending champion. He beat Asian Games gold medallist Li Shifeng of the People’s Republic of China in straight games in last year’s final to take the crown.

Seeded fourth this year, Lakshya Sen will begin his campaign against one of the players from the qualification rounds.

The 22-year-old Indian badminton player will be accompanied by Priyanshu Rajawat, Kiran George and Ayush Shetty in the main draw of the men’s singles. World No. 40 Rajawat recently reached the quarter-finals of the US Open.

Women’s singles contender Malvika Bansod, ranked 49th, will look to continue the momentum after making it to the last four of the US Open last month.

Also in the women’s singles main draw are Tanya Hemanth and Anupama Upadhyaya.

In the absence of world No. 3 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, the men’s doubles challenge will be led by world No. 43 Krishna Prasad Garaga-Sai Pratheek K.

The women’s doubles challenge is being spearheaded by world No. 23 Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand. Seeded seventh, Treesa-Gayatri, who made it to the quarters at the US Open, have been handed a first-round bye.

In the mixed doubles event, the Indian pairs of Kona Tarun-Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli and Rohan Kapoor-Gadde Ruthvika Shivani have been pitted against each other in the first round.

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and World Championships bronze medallist HS Prannoy won’t be competing in Canada.
