During this year’s awards show, Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actor, author, director, producer and philanthropist Taraji P. Henson will return to host, and Grammy award-winning global entertainment icon Usher will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement BET Award.

American actor Taraji P. Henson hosted the awards show in 2021 and 2022, but there was no official host announced for 2023 due in part to the WGA writers strike. That year, rapper Kendrick Lamar was the big winner, sweeping in multiple categories. This year, Henson will return as the third-time host of the 2024 BET Awards. She is best known for her roles in “Empire”, “Hidden Figures”, and “The Color Purple”.

Performers will include Lauryn Hill and her son YG Marley, Childish Gambino, Ice Spice, Tyla, Chlöe, Coco Jones, Keke Palmer, Marsha Ambrosius, Summer Walker, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét. Will Smith will perform a new song, though no details were announced. The Grammy and Oscar winner is still emerging from the infamous Oscars slap two years ago, with the successful launch of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” helping boost his comeback. And country musician Tanner Adell will also perform on the BET Amplified stage.
