Paraguay started their campaign in the United States with a 2-1 defeat to Colombia. Despite a strong defensive start, a 32nd-minute goal from Daniel Munoz forced Paraguay to change tactics and chase the game, a situation with which they have historically struggled.

Against Costa Rica, Brazil made two changes to their starting lineup from their friendly against the United States. Guilherme Arana came in for Wendell at left-back, and Eder Militao replaced Lucas Beraldo at centre-back. It’s likely the defensive lineup will go unchanged.
Notably, Douglas Luiz did not feature for the first time since last October, with Joao Gomes and Bruno Guimaraes preferred in midfield, but there have been questions over whether fielding two players in holding roles was necessary. Further forward, young talents Endrick and Savio made their Copa America debuts and they are candidates to start this game should Dorival favour a more bold approach.
