LIVE] F1 Austrian Grand Prix 2024 - FP1 ...

The 2024 Formula One season is really starting to ramp-up as we approach the halfway stages, with the 11th meeting of the campaign commencing today with the Austrian Grand Prix.

F1 race weekends come thick and fast in June, which is great news for fans. The other welcome news for dedicated followers of F1 is that you don’t need to spend anything to watch all the action from the Austrian Grand Prix.

Taking place at the Red Bull Ring, the home circuit of the team featuring a defending three-time world champion in Max Verstappen, who winning the Austrian Grand Prix has been somewhat of a formality in recent years — with Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes all looking to change that.

The latter duo certainly came close to doing that in Spain last weekend, with McLaren’s Lando Norris finishing just two seconds behind Verstappen having qualified on pole and recorded the race’s fastest lap. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell followed suit, and will be aiming to go even further towards the top of the podium in Austria.

How to watch the F1 Austrian Grand Prix:

Date: Sunday, June 30, 2024

Time: 9 a.m. ET

Location: Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria

TV channel: ESPN

Streaming: ESPN+

Max Verstappen is sweating. It’s not a common occurrence, but Red Bull have found themselves drawn into competitive racing during 2024 following an era of total dominance. Sergio Pérez has been consumed and overtaken by the chasing pack, and now McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari have their sights set on an even greater scalp.

Lando Norris has racked up three second-place finishes in four races to leap into second overall in the driver standings. He has shown guile worthy of challenging Verstappen up front and, crucially, is driving a car that can finally challenge Red Bull for race pace.

The world champion produced a scintillating lap of the shortest track on the Formula One calendar to finish 0.404 seconds clear of McLaren’s Lando Norris, with George Russell third for Mercedes. Carlos Sainz finished fourth with Lewis Hamilton fifth.

“It is a great feeling and the team has worked hard to make the car competitive,” said Verstappen after landing his fourth straight pole at the Red Bull Ring. “This is a great statement and hopefully we can show that again tomorrow in the race.”

The Austrian Grand Prix will air live on ESPN and stream on ESPN+. ESPN is the home of F1 this season with 18 out of 24 races airing on either ESPN or ABC, and the remainder airing on ESPN2. 16 races will stream on ESPN+ in 2024.

Verstappen still holds a healthy lead in his bid for a fourth consecutive World Drivers’ Championship, and after his close-run win over Norris in Barcelona, he has won seven of the 10 races held so far in another display of Red Bull dominance.

Fellow Red Bull-aligned drivers Sergio Perez (Verstappen’s teammate), Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda (Racing Bulls-Honda) will all be looking to impress on a track they’ll know well, with the onus now on all other teams to try and spoil their Austrian homecoming.

For cord-cutters who want to watch F1 racing, including this weekend’s grand prix, we recommend a live TV streaming service such as Hulu’s live TV bundle, which includes ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN+.

If you’re looking for a lower-cost subscription, a direct subscription to ESPN+ is an affordable option great for fans of all kinds of sports. If you’re only interested in watching F1 racing and don’t care about the ability to watch other sports, an F1 TV Pro subscription is a simple way to stream every race, practice and qualifier.
