India and England meet again in a T20 World Cup semi-final with Rohit Sharma’s side hoping to end their opponents’ title defence.
England knocked out India at this stage at the last edition of the tournament on their way to victory in 2022, and have battled back from a poor start in the Caribbean to again eye a final berth.
But their semi-final foes are yet to be beaten despite the lean form of a couple of key players, with Jasprit Bumrah to the fore with the ball and Sharma leading from the front with the bat.
England take on India in their T20 World Cup semi-final today in Guyana, with the winners facing South Africa in Saturday’s final.
Today’s meeting is a repeat of the 2022 World Cup last-four clash in Adelaide, which dominant England won by 10 wickets. But Rohit Sharma’s side are favourites to triumph this afternoon, avenging that heavy defeat in the process.

The second T20 World Cup semi-final is due to start at 3.30pm BST on Thursday 27 June at Providence Stadium in Guyana.

India may well be unchanged, with Virat Kohli likely to be backed at the top of the order despite a succession of low scores at the tournament so far. Spin trio Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja shape as key threats.
England seem to have settled on their favoured combination, too, even if Tom Hartley’s darts may be a tempting option on a surface often enjoyed by left-arm spinners. Chris Jordan’s standout day against the USA should allow him to keep his place ahead of Mark Wood.

What happens if it rains?
In the event of rain, a minimum of 10 overs per side are required to be played for a result, up from five overs earlier in the tournament. There is no reserve day for the game, with 250 minutes of additional time able to be used on Thursday to try to complete the fixture.
If the match is washed out, the team that finished higher in the Super 8s (India) will advance.
England’s campaign began falteringly, with a poor performance in the no result against Scotland and then defeat to Australia. Since then, England have found form. However their most impressive performances have been against the Associate Nations, with England having only played three Full Members on route to the semi-final – losing to Australia and South Africa, and beating West Indies.
India have been more consistent. Although Virat Kohli has had a relatively quiet time opening for India, skipper Rohit Sharma has not. He is both the side’s leading and quickest scorer this tournament. Both sides are packed with potential match winners, but getting the Indian captain out early may be crucial to England’s chances of victory.
The ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 is almost at the finish line with just two matches remaining: a semifinal and the final.
India, Afghanistan, England and South Africa were the top four teams that qualified for the semifinals after defeating the 16 other participating teams in several stages during the tournament. Afghanistan and South Africa will play each other in the first semifinal on Wednesday, while India and England will face each other on Thursday. India and England will face each other on Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. ET at the Guyana National Stadium in Guyana.
While Thursday’s match is expected to be an exciting yet nail-biting one, rain threatens to dampen the mood with showers expected early in the day, according to AccuWeather. If the match is abandoned due to rain, the team with more points, in this case India, will qualify for the final to be held on Saturday.
