The winner of Group D in Copa America, to nobody’s surprise, will come down to the final matchday between Brazil and Colombia on Tuesday. It’s win the match and win the group as Colombia are perfect on six points while Brazil bounced back from a draw with Costa Rica to brush aside Paraguay. It’s important to win the group as the winner will likely avoid Uruguay in the quarterfinals. Vinicius Junior versus Luis Diaz is quite a matchup but this is also a clash that shows the shifting tides of South American soccer. Colombia are unbeaten in their last 25 matches while Brazil have only won two of their last five matches, and winning this group would help show why Los Cafteros are one of the favorites to win the entire tournament.

Brazil bounced back from their scoreless draw against Costa Rica with a convincing 4-1 victory over Paraguay in their second Copa America 2024 match. Dorival Junior made two changes to the lineup, including benching Raphinha for Savio, and adjusted his team’s formation to a 4-2-3-1, both of which massively paid off.
The Selecao need to defeat Colombia to stand alone atop Group D; a draw would put them in second place. Therefore, expect Brazil to come out with a lineup at full strength, including Vinicius Jr., who scored his first international brace on Friday.

Lerma, Rios and Cordoba are at risk of being suspended for the quarterfinals if they pick up another yellow, while James Rodriguez came off in Colombia’s win against Costa Rica but that was just a precaution. Colombia may rotate a little but they are likely to try and keep their momentum heading into the quarterfinals as they want to seal top spot and avoid Uruguay in the last eight.
