Whakaata MÄori in partnership with New Zealand Rugby (NZR) will broadcast the announcement of the MÄori All Blacks squad to play Japan XV in two matches on 29 June and 6 July.
Japan Head Coach Eddie Jones has today announced the Japan XV team to take on the MÄori All Blacks this Saturday, June 29 at Tokyoās historic Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium in the first of two non-capped matches in the Lipovitan D Challenge Cup 2024.
Join Whakaata MÄori and Sky Sport for live coverage of the MÄori All Blacks vs. Japan game, as part of the Lipovitan D Challenge Cup 2024.
Te Ao News anchor TÅ«mamao Harawira will host a panel in the studio including New Zealand MÄori Rugby Board representative Rob Clark, MÄori All Blacks Cultural Advisor Te Wehi Wright and presenter and Sky commentator Julian Wilcox.
The broadcast will also cross LIVE to Te Ao News|Aukaha reporter Kereama Wright who will speak with MÄori All Blacks Head Coach Ross Filipo at their first team training in Auckland.
Whakaata MÄori is also partnering with Sky to broadcast the two matches ā the first at Tokyoās Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium on June 29 at 10.00pm NZT and the second at Toyota Stadium on July 6 at 9.00pm NZT.
The team is Co-Captained by starting hooker, Mamoru Harada, who earned his first cap last weekend against England, and 20-cap replacement scrumhalf, Naoto Saito, who starts the match on the reserves bench. Jones has once again opted for youth as he works to blood the next generation of Japanese National Team players.
Within his matchday-23, eight players are yet to be capped, while 12 of those already capped have featured in less than 10 test matches each, including five who played their maiden test in last weekendās loss to England.
For the June 29 match there will be te reo MÄori commentary on Whakaata MÄori, MÄori+ and Sky Sport 2, and English commentary on Sky Sport 1. For the July 6 match there will be te reo MÄori commentary on Whakaata MÄori, MÄori+ and Sky Sport 3 and English commentary on Sky Sport 2. Sky Open will have free-to-air delayed coverage of both matches.
