Just 4 Fun registrations now being taken

Just 4 Fun Bowling signups are now open.

Just 4 Fun Bowling is a league for people with autism. The cost is $60 per player and includes bowling for the entire season, a shirt, and player trophy at the end of the season. A third is due at registration to secure a spot with the remaining balance due at the first game. Players will not have a shirt orderd or be placed on a team until the $20 deposit is paid.

The season’s games begin at 3 p.m. at Sunset Lanes. The dates are: Oct. 19, Nov. 2, Nov. 16, Dec. 7, Dec. 21, Jan. 4, Jan. 18, Feb. 1, Feb. 15, and March 1.

There are no in-person registrations scheduled. Registrations can be made at autismproject.com.

Hydrant flushing to be Thursday

The Department of Public Utilities will be flushing fire hydrants in the city through Tuesday, Oct. 8.

This Thursday, flushing will occur south from 11th and Offnere streets to Front Street and streets west from Offnere to Chillicothe Street. Flushing will begin at 6 p.m. and will last six to eight hours.

During periods of flushing, customers can experience loss of water, low pressure, and discolored water for a period of time. When flushing is completed, customers should notice an improvement in their water service.

TechCred applications due Sept. 30

Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as Director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, has announced the results of the July TechCred application period, in which 524 employers were awarded, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 6,747 tech-focused credentials.

TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by upskilling current and prospective employees. Businesses of all sizes, from any industry, are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year. One of the top industries awarded during this round included AI, with 1,061 credentials awarded.

In July, Husted announced more than 100,000 credentials have been awarded since the start of the TechCred program, demonstrating the impact of the program and how it continues to be a helpful resource for businesses and employees around Ohio.

The current and 28th application period for Ohio employers opened Sept. 2 and will close at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30. Apply now at TechCred.Ohio.Gov. Individuals and training providers interested in learning more about the program can visit TechCred.Ohio.Gov.
