SSU to get funds for library renovation

The Ohio Controlling Board on Monday approved the release of $310,500 to be used by Shawnee State University.

This funding will be used to renovate the interior and exterior of the Clark Memorial Library building located on Shawnee State’s campus in Portsmouth.

“The Clark Memorial Library is home to educational materials and experiences for students and community members,” said Rep. Justin Pizzulli, R-Franklin Furnace. “I’m grateful to have this library as a resource for our community and I’m looking forward to seeing these renovations come to fruition.”

DeWine orders flags to half-staff today

In honor of those killed in the terrorist attacks on 9/11, Governor DeWine has ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio to be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Ohio from sunrise to sunset on Sept. 11, 2024.

DeWine asks all Ohioans observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. to honor the innocent lives lost as a result of the terrorist attacks.

Greenup historical society to meet Monday

The Greenup County Genealogy & Historical Society will be holding its next meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept 16, in the community room at the Greenup Public Library, 508 Main St., Greenup.

After the business meeting, the GCGHS will be viewing a RootsTech video on Using DNA to Determine Relationships. The meeting is free and open to the public.
