A Sciotoville man has been arrested and charged with 71 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Jarrod Drew Reffitt, 44, of Sciotoville, was taken into custody after a tip to the Portsmouth Police Department from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program. According to information from the Portsmouth Police Department, the Task Force reported it had received information “about child sexual assault material being sent via the Internet from the address at 5819 Farney Ave.,” which is Reffitt’s address.

A search warrant was executed on Aug. 8 by the PPD, Scioto County Special Victims Unit, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Numerous electronic devices were seized when law enforcement executed that search warrant, according to the PPD.

“Further search warrants were served on those devices and social media sites. The results from the search warrants on the recovered electronic devices and the social media sites discovered that Jarrod Reffitt was in possession of an enormous amount of child sexual assault material,” according to the PPD.

The material included videos and images of children and infants being sexually assaulted by adults.

The Scioto County Grand Jury handed down the 71 indictments on Sept. 20, and Reffitt was arrested the same day. He is currently being lodged in the Scioto County Jail.

Reffitt’s case of 71 counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person is in the pre-arraignment stage in Scioto County Court of Common Pleas. It has been assigned to the courtroom of Judge Howard H. Harcha III.
