Man killed in Pike Co. crash

A Columbus man was killed in a crash in Pike County Tuesday.

At 10:59 p.m., the Portsmouth post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call of a serious two-vehicle injury crash on Ohio 220 near Progress Drive in Seal Township.

Anthony Hobbs, 52, of Columbus, was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima northbound on Ohio 220. After driving off the right side of the roadway Hobbs lost control, traveled left of center and struck an on coming southbound vehicle. Hobbs succumbed to his injuries as a result of the crash at the scene.

Joann Jackson, 53, of Beaver, was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus southbound on Ohio 220 and was struck by Hobbs in the southbound lane. She was transported to Adena-Pike Medical Center and later to Grant Hospital due to injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Piketon Police Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Portsmouth Ambulance, Seal Township Fire Department, and the Pike County Coroner’s Office.
