SATURDAY, Aug. 31

RIVER DAYS PARADE—One of the largest parades in Ohio, the 61st Annual River Days Parade steps off from Spartan Municipal Stadium at 11 a.m., rain or shine. The route follows Jackson Avenue to Offnere Street to Gallia Avenue and ends downtown at Tracy Park.

RIVER DAYS MIDWAY—The midway is open from noon to 11 p.m. all weekend on the municipal parking lot at the corner of Fourth and Washington streets.

STREET RODDERS CRUISE-IN—The Ohio River Street Rodders present their monthly cruise-in from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Scioto County Fairgrounds in Lucasville. Southern Ohio’s largest cruise-in, there is never a registration fee. No inside parking.

RIVER DAYS PAGEANT—Representatives from schools countywide vie for the title of Miss River Days starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on the campus of Shawnee State University, 940 Second St.

SUNDAY, Sept. 1

RIVER DAYS MIDWAY—The midway is open from noon to 11 p.m. all weekend on the municipal parking lot at the corner of Fourth and Washington streets.

RIVER DAYS QUEEN AND COURT—The 2024 River Days Queen and her court will be introduced to the community at 5 p.m.

FIREWORKS—End River Days weekend with a fireworks show at 10 p.m. at Spartan Municipal Stadium.

MONDAY, Sept. 2

Happy Labor Day!

PORTER TRUSTEES—The Porter Township trustees will conduct its regular meeting at 4:30 p.m., at the Porter Township Hall, 1535 Dogwood Ridge Road, Wheelersburg.

RARDEN TRUSTEES—The Rarden Township trustees will meet at 7 p.m., 75 Barker St., McDermott.

CLAY TRUSTEES—The Clay Township trustees will meet at 7 p.m., at the senior center at the Clay Industrial Park, 107 N. Arrowhead Road. The trustees have set the regular township meetings for the year to be at 7 p.m., on the third Monday of each month.

TUESDAY, Sept. 3

ARTS COMMISSION—The Portsmouth Arts Commission will meet at 5 p.m., at Port City Pub, 424 Chillicothe St. Commission members will select a secretary as well as review floodwall star applications and hear statements from the public.

HYDRANT FLUSHING—The Portsmouth Department of Public Utilities will be flushing fire hydrants in all of Sciotoville.

FARMERS MARKET—Portsmouth Farmer’s Market is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday at Market Square Park Pavilion in Boneyfiddle through the summer.

GREENUP FARMERS MARKET—The Greenup County Farmers’ Market will begin at 9 a.m. at 806 Seaton Ave., Greenup. Call (606) 836-0201 for more information. This farmers’ market runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 28.

BLOOM TRUSTEES—The Bloom Township Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. at the Pinkerman building, 7250 Bennett Schoolhouse Road, South Webster.

WEDNESDAY, Sept. 4

SCOESC MEETING—The South Central Ohio Educational Service Center Governing Board will conduct a special meeting at 1 p.m., in the board room of the SCOESC Business Center. The meeting will consider employment-related resolutions, which could include the resignation, employment, and compensation of public employees.

THURSDAY, Sept. 5

HYDRANT FLUSHING—The Portsmouth Department of Public Utilities will be flushing fire hydrants in Wheelersburg to Franklin Furnace.

SHAWNEE FARMERS MARKET—Shawnee State University has its very own farmers market on the Morris University Center Lawn. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through August.

GREENUP FARMERS MARKET—The Greenup County Farmers’ Market will be in downtown Russell. all (606) 836-0201 for more information. This farmers’ market runs 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays through Sept. 26.

NEW BOSTON COUNCIL—New Boston VIllage Council will meet at 6:30 p.m., at the New Boston Community Center on Rhodes Avenue.

GREEN TRUSTEES—The Green Township trustees will meet at 7 p.m., at the senior center in Franklin Furnace.

FREE PLANETARIUM SHOW—A free show will be offered at 7 p.m. at the Clark Planetarium in the Advanced Technology Center on the campus of Shawnee State University. Free shows are offered Mondays and Thursdays. Learn more about the planetarium’s shows at www.shawnee.edu/planetarium.
