Run For Your LIFE this weekend

PORTSMOUTH- As part of many local traditions, one designed to bene/t Scioto County’s Community Health program is ready to launch once again, this time with a well-known race. Southern Ohio Medical Center’s (SOMC) 47th Annual Run For Your LIFE will take place on Saturday, August 31 with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. and the event kicking o9 at 7:30 a.m.According to SOMC, run For Your LIFE participants can complete a 5k run, a 10k run, or a 10k bike. There is also an option to complete a duathlon, featuring a 5k run and a 10k bike. Awards will be given to the top three /nishers of each age division in each competition category. “For 47 years, this event has showcased SOMC’s long standing commitment to our community ‘s health and wellness,” Director of Community Health and Wellness Brad Zieber said. “What it means to the community…This event is a tradition in our community that allows all ages and /tness abilities to continue their /tness journey. It is a family and multi-generational event that we are very proud of.”The event will begin and end at the SOMC LIFE Center in Portsmouth.The 5k begins at the Life Center, heads south on Offnere to Grant, east to Grandview, west on Dorman, south on Shawnee, continues to Micklethwaite, west onto Kinney’s Lane, south onto Offnere and back to the Life Center.The 10k begins at the Life Center, heads south on Offnere to Grant, east to Grandview, right onto Dorman, south on Thomas, west on 25th, north on Grandview, west on Dorman, travels north onto Sheridan, loops around Orchard, turns west on Coles until Brant, turning around and heading back east down Coles, turns south onto Shawnee, continues down Micklethwaite, west onto Kinney’s Lane, south onto Offnere, and then turns west back to the Life Center. “I enjoy participating in Run For Your Life every year!” Runner Briana Tudor-Brown said. “It’s always fun to toe to line with runners of different age ranges
