Mary Bennett, 84

Mary Louise “Lou” Bennett, 84, of Minford, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

Born May 18, 1928, in South Webster, a daughter of the late Rennal and Alma (Adams) Thompson. She was a self-employed as a bookkeeper and was a Kentucky Colonel. She was a graduate of Glenwood High School in the class of 1946, and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Homer Magnet of Minford, Anita and Jerry Coburn, of Wheelersburg, Lisa and Danny Basham, of Minford; five grandchildren, Stacy (Cale) Clarkson, Josh and Kelcie Coburn, Breana (Zach) White, Shalyn Basham: two great grandchildren, Teegan and Danica Clarkson, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald R. Bennett on June 26, 2008, whom she married on Sept. 4, 1949; two brothers, Edwin (Karl) Thompson and Harold Thompson.

Per her request her body was donated to The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital of Children, Attn: Donations Dept., 3229 Burnett Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.

The family would like to thank the third floor Orthopedic Unit at SOMC for their exceptional care.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.
