Ray Henson, 77

Ray Bob Henson, 77, of Minford, died Friday, July 6, 2012, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.

Born Oct. 30, 1934, in Minford, a son of the late Gilbert Russell Henson and Jane Geneva (Holmes) Henson, he was a retired employee for Textile Leather Corporation in Toledo, Ohio, from 1963 to 1992. He was a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1952, an Army veteran and a member of James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Henson, Jr. and a sister, Martha Cantrell.

He is survived by two nephews, Michael Cantrell of Baltimore, Md., John Cantrell of Pennsylvania; a niece, Theresa Mearkle of Baltimore, Md., and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Don Noel officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the James Irwin Post No. 622 and William Baker Post No. 363 American Legions.

Uncle ray you will be missed dearly. I cant believe your gone. I hope you can finely rest in peace. Tell granny I said hi and i miss her too. Love Jen
