Forrest Hopkins, 79

Forrest B. Hopkins, 79 of First Ave. Waverly, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 6, 1932, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late German and Leona Conley Hopkins.

He was united in marriage on March 12, 1951, to Betty Jo Humphreys Hopkins who preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 1997. Surviving are a son, Mark Hopkins and wife Barbara of Waverly, two daughters: Karen Dixon and husband David of Piketon, Marsha Amlin and husband Charles of Waverly, a brother, Carson Hopkins of Piketon, two sisters: Gladys Marhoover of Jackson, Thelma Counts of Waverly, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and very special friend Jean Shipley of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by a son, William Hopkins, a great grandson, Talan Amlin, two brothers: Harold and Donald Hopkins, and two sisters: Pauline Mouser and Nell Mustard.

He was a retired electrician and was member of the I.B.E.W. Local #575 with 60 years of service, and a member of the Walnut St. United Methodist Church in Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Jim Steele officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
