Salt Supplies Diminishing
by Frank Lewis
One of the signs it has been an unusually snow-filled winter is the diminishing mountain of road salt at the Conley Terminals just east of New Boston.
We have hauled out 100,000 tons of salt, R.J. Conley of Conley Trucking and Conley Terminals said. We do most of it with our trucks, and I hire a lot of trucks to help me.
Conleys sells salt to many government entities in this section of the country.
Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio we service the northern part of Virginia, the western part of West Virginia, and Columbus and below in Ohio, Conley said.
The supply didnt stay low for long. Monday, Conleys was in the process of replenishing the mountains of salt.
Ive got more right now, Conley said. Were unloading barges right now at our terminal.
Conley said the current supply of salt was coming from Louisiana; and has received salt this year from as far away as Brazil.
According to its Web site, Conley Trucking specializes in all types of aggregate materials handling including stone/gravel, dirt and coal.
