Steven Sommer, 54, of Wheelersburg, died Oct. 28, 2009, at Southern Ohio Hospice in Portsmouth.

He was born Aug. 9, 1955, in Portsmouth, to Homer and Addie (Maynard) Sommer. He graduated from South Webster High School in 1973. Steven worked at USEC for nearly 35 years as a process production operator. He enjoyed farming, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, scuba diving, traveling, and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Steven is survived by two sons, Shawn (Jennifer) Sommer of Wheelersburg, and Scott (Lorna) Sommer of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Tyler, and Alana Sommer; mother, Addie Sommer of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Douglas (Ladora) Sommer of Jackson, and Bradley (Susan) Sommer of Minford; five nieces and nephews, Natasha, Brock, Skyler, Brooke, and Shelley; special cousin, Adam Riggs of South Webster; special friend, Jeanette Wiley of Beaver; and former wife, Brenda Sommer of Ashland, Ky.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville, with Pastor Mark Bales officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. I went to Grade School and High School with Steve, I am sure he will be missed. My prayer go out to all of you.
