Tom Grashel Memorial Golf Scramble
The Portsmouth Athletic Boosters will be holding the annual Tom Grashel Memorial Golf Scramble May 11 at Shawnee State Golf Resort.
A $220 team fee will cover cart, 18 holes and lunch. Shotgun start is slated for 2 p.m.
Awards and door prizes will be handed out throughout the day. Hole sponsorship is $50.

SSU Baseball Prospect Showcase
The sixth annual Spring Prospect Showcase will take place May 19 at Branch Rickey Park.
This pro-style workout will be conducted by the Shawnee State baseball coaching staff for players ages 15-21. Registration will take place at 9:30 a.m. and a $75 fee is required. American Legion Post 23 Tryouts
Tryouts for the 2013 American Legion Post 23 baseball team will take place at 5 p.m. May 18-19 and 25-26 at the Wheelersburg High School field.
Prospective players must attend at least one session and should try to attend all tryouts. Players who are a part of a team that is still in the OHSAA tournament cannot participate in tryouts but should attend one tryout session to register.
The tryouts are for the Junior team for players ages 17 and under and the Senior team for ages 19 and under. Junior players cannot turn 18 and Senior players cannot turn 20 before Dec. 31.
This year, the Senior team has a 48-game schedule while the Juniors have close to 30 planned. High school coaches are encouraged to attend to help with evaluations. For more information, email coach Jack Branon at email@example.com.
Post 23 Junior coaching search
This year, Post 23 is looking for a head coach and at least one assistant for the Junior team.
Qualified applicants should have coaching experience on the junior high, high school or higher level with a love for the game and the ability to work as a part of a team. All coaches must have a background check through a company retained by American Legion Baseball.

North American Youth Sports
North American Youth Sports has several openings in its annual spring youth basketball tournament at St. Albans High School in West Virginia on May 24-26. Students, grade 5-12, will be allowed to participate. The entry fee is $100, which guarantees each team will play a minimum of two games. The Jackson County Red Cross will be holding its second annual golf tournament fundraiser on Saturday, May 18 at Franklin Valley Golf Course. The 23rd annual Ryan and Tom’s Tennis Camp will be held June 3-5 at Mound Park in Portsmouth. Ages 11-17 will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cost $85. West Sports Complex

Minford Boys/Girls Basketball Camp
The coaches for the Minford boys and girls varsity program will conduct a three day camp from 9 a.m.-noon June 10, 11, 13 and 14 for boys and girls in grades K through eight.
