IRONTON — One person was killed in a single vehicle accident in Lawrence County Thursday morning.


According to the Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 1992 Nissan Sentra operated by Donald Clark, 68, of Ironton, was traveling north on Ohio State Route 650, near mile post 1, Thursday morning when he travelled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded at 9:25 a.m. Thursday and found Clark unresponsive.


Lawrence County EMS and the Lawrence County Coroner were called to the scene, and Clark was pronounced dead. The highway patrol report he was not wearing a safety belt.


Clark’s body was taken to Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, and the accident remains under investigation.
