For the first time since the 1995-1996 season, the West girls basketball program left a game with Oak Hill as a victor.


The No. 7 Senators ended the No. 3 Oaks’ run of 16-straight district semifinal wins with a 71-61 win Saturday in a Division III Southeast District Semifinal at Waverly’s Downtown Gymnasium.


The win sets up West with a rematch with No. 1 Fairland, which eliminated No. 12 Northwest 90-31 earlier in the afternoon. The Dragons won the regular season contest 59-44.


Tori Leader led the Senators with 25 points. Taylor Conley finished with 16, Alex Ridout had 12 and Hannah Cremeans chipped in with 10 in the win.


It was a career afternoon for Oak Hill’s Leanna Adkins as she finished with a game-high 33 points. The Oaks graduate Alex Kuhn, Paige Roseberry and Miranda Melvin.
