The Scioto County Memorial Day Committee has held meetings beginning in the latter part of 2012 into the early part of 2013 and has finalized plans for several events that day, Monday, May 27. One of the things the committee has accomplished is the election of officers. They are: Paul Claxon, president; Rich Saddler, vice president; Bill Rush, treasurer; Tim Payne, Secretary, and Kristi Powell, parade marshal.
In addition, Nancy Windsor is chaplain, Dr. Robert Nelson, Jim Bailey, and Bill Hutchinson, trustees. Jim Saddler is in charge of publicity; June Meade is over special events; Rhonda Madison, in charge of grave flagging and Trent Williams, music chairman.
Dave Bussler, parade coordinator said the parade will line-up at 9 a.m. at Tracy Park, departing at 10 a.m., and traveling to Greenlawn Cemetery on Offnere Street. Services at Greenlawn will begin at 11:15 a.m. After the services at Greenlawn, the committee will meet at about 12:30 p.m. at the Court Street Landing for the service for all military personnel, civilians and Merchant Marines who were lost at sea during all wars. A flowered anchor will be placed upon the waters of the Ohio River.
After the services at Court Street, they will adjourn to Post No. 23 of the American Legion for lunch, and a short introduction of guests.
