Ruth Day, 91

Leah Ruth Day, 91, of Minford, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born April 19, 1921, in Portsmouth, she retired from Portsmouth West High School in 1984 and had worked at Timken Roller Bearing during World War II.

In the days leading up to her death she was surrounded by the love of her devoted family. She is survived by her sons, Mike (Carol) Day, Pat (Barbara) Day, and Tim (Kaye) Day, brothers and sister, Nancy and Junior Shy and Jack Keyser; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Day.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the angels of mercy at SOMC Hospice. You all treated us like we were your family and she was your mother also. You are truly doing God’s work here on earth.

In honor of her wishes, there will be a graveside service, for family and friends, Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg with Associate Pastor Andy Day officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.

Please also in honor of her and her families wishes, in lieu of flowers as she would say “just call us and tell us, you love us, give us and someone you love a hug”! If you feel the need to honor her, donations can be made to SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662, because we can never thank them enough for the love and care that they extended to us.
