Donald Powell, 78
Donald Eugene Powell, 78, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at his residence.
He was born April 3, 1934, in Lucasville a son of the late Elvin “Monk” and Bernatine Kallner Powell.
Don was a retired engineer for AT&T, a US Army veteran, and a 1952 Valley High School graduate. He enjoyed collecting clocks and cars and fishing with his running buddy and brother Ron.
He is survived by one brother, Ron (Brenda) Powell of Lucasville; one sister, Clara Powell of Ashland, Ky.; two nephews Mark (Lori) Powell of Lucasville and Matthew (Kristy) Powell of Portsmouth; two great nieces; and two great nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Stroth Powell, Oct. 17, 1995.
Entombment services will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in the Edgewood Abby Mausoleum at Memorial Burial Park. Cryptside military rites will be performed by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
