A trio of area football players have been selected to participate in the 2013 Ohio High School Football Coaches Association North-South Classic.
Valley defensive lineman JJ Hettinger, Ironton running back Patrick Lewis and Oak Hill wide receiver Luke Hammond will all be a part of the Divisions IV, V and VI South team while Oak Hill head coach Nathan Dugan was tapped to be an assistant coach on the same squad.
Hettinger ended his senior season as the Division V Southeast District Defensive Player of the Year and was a Division V First Team All-Ohioan, helping the Indians to their second-straight 12-1 season that included an SOC II title and a Division V, Region 19 Finals appearance.
Lewis helped the Fighting Tigers to a Division IV, Region 15 Semifinal berth and an overall record of 7-4. He was a Division IV Second Team All-Ohioan on offense and was Co-Offensive Player of the Year in the district.
From 2-8 to 9-3, Hammond and Dugan were a part of the Oaks resurgence to the SOC I crown and a Region 19 Semifinals appearance. Hammond was a First Team All-Southeast District pick and also Special Mention All-Ohio. Dugan was a Division V Southeast District Co-Coach of the Year in his first year at the helm.
The game will take place Apr. 27 at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium. Kickoff has yet to be announced.
