Leader, West hand Notre Dame first loss

Tori Leader scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds Monday as visiting West handed Notre Dame its first loss of the season in a 63-45 decision.

Leader is seven rebounds shy from becoming the first player in school history, boys or girls, to score 1,000 points and have 1,000 rebounds. Alex Ridout chipped in with 12 in the win.

Jen Arnzen had 17 points and 14 rebounds while Stacie Ramey finished with 10 for the Titans. The Senators go to Northwest Thursday and Notre Dame welcomes Ironton St. Joseph Jan. 28.

Haley Potters had 12 points and four assists while Cheyenne Weakley added 11 as a well-balanced South Webster ball club held visiting Green to one point in the second quarter and pulled away with a 65-36 nonconference win.

Mariah Sullivan had eight rebounds for the Jeeps. Giulia Elli led all scorers with 22 points in the loss.

South Webster entertains Waverly Thursday. The Bobcats are at Clay.

Host Clay pulled away in the second half of Monday’s nonconference contest with Waverly to post a 47-39 win.

Katie Redding led all scorers with 16 points and Courtney Delotell had 13 for the Panthers. Lexie Gilliland grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds for Clay, which hosts Green Thursday.

Bri Wiget’s dozen paced the Tigers. Waverly goes to South Webster Thursday.

Mercedes Tackett had nine points and Tiffany Craft added eight but it wasn’t enough for host East as the Tartans fell 62-30 in Monday’s nonconference game with South Gallia.

East travels to West Union Wednesday to make up last week’s postponed game. The Tartans will welcome Eastern Thursday to resume SOC I play.

A motivated Ashland (Ky.) Paul Blazer team came into Wheelersburg Monday night and left with a 72-35 nonconference win over Wheelersburg.

Brooke Smith’s 11 points was the high for the Pirates while Fay Proehl, Sydney Holden and Maggie Stegman each grabbed five rebounds. Wheelersburg travels to Minford Thursday in a key SOC II contest.
