Jordan West scored 31 points, including six 3-pointers and going 7-for-10 from the free throw line, as host Valley held Minford to one point in overtime and won 83-70 to remain atop the SOC II.


Hayden Dunn finished with 27 points and nine rebounds while Will Howard added 12 points and seven rebounds in the win. Kenton Gullion was one of three Falcons in double figures with 20 while Austin McBee had 18 and Jared McCray finished with 16.


Both teams are at home Tuesday to resume SOC II play. Minford welcomes Waverly while the Indians entertain Northwest.

Portsmouth 82, Jackson 44

A 17-9 first quarter was more than enough for host Portsmouth to get started Friday night as the Trojans went on to defeat Jackson 82-44 to sweep the season series.

Jayllen Carter, who set a new single-game school scoring record with 44 points in the last meeting, led Portsmouth with 17 points. Austin Peano and Isiaha Lisath each finished with a dozen and Connor Lasswell chipped in with 10.

The Trojans are on the road Tuesday at Ironton. The Fighting Tigers won the first matchup 53-51 last month when they played in Portsmouth.
