One of the highlights of this Friday’s meeting of the Scioto County Health Coalition will be a tutorial training on the organization’s website.
The agenda for the meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. at the new permanent location, the ADMAHS Board, 919 Seventh St., calls for Eli Allen to facilitate the tutorial during the All Hands meeting, scheduled to be conducted by Dr. Terry Johnson, Medical Director of the Counseling Center.
Reports are scheduled for the following committees: Wellness (Sharon Carver); Medical (Dr. Aaron Adams); Economic Development (Chris Smith); Code Enforcement (Andy Gedeon); Community Initiative (Craig Gilliland), and the Prescription Drug Action Team (Lisa Roberts RN).
Portsmouth Health Commissioner, Chris Smith said the Coalition is open to all government agencies, all businesses, non-government organizations, volunteer organizations, and all interested citizens.
Scioto County Health Commissioner Dr. Aaron Adams said the purpose of the Coalition is to reach out, finding partners in the community to improve the health and welfare of the community.
“With the county health rankings on outcomes and health factors being so poor, at, or near the bottom, we feel we have a lot to work,” Adams said. “And if you look to all of those different areas that they use at the Robert W. Wood Foundation, there’s a lot of work to do.”
That study showed Scioto County at the bottom of the state rankings in health factors.
