It may be the start of a new year, but one thing remains for the Notre Dame girls basketball team.


The number in the loss column has not switched from a zero to a one. The Titans got a 25-point, 21-rebound output from Jen Arnzen Thursday night as they left Lucasville with a 59-49 win over Valley.


Brooke Pierron added 16 points and 10 points in the win. Lexie Doddridge had 17 points and Bethany Conley chipped in with 12 for the Indians.


Notre Dame will host Eastern Monday night while Valley entertains Unioto Saturday.

Host East started 2013 on the right foot with a 56-32 win over Ashland (Ky.) Rose Hill Christian Thursday night.


Mercedes Tackett led all scorers with 29 points while teammates Tiffany Craft and Jessie Monroe each added nine. The Tartans host Rock Hill for a Saturday matinee.

Despite 11 points and four steals from Bri Wiget, visiting Waverly left Hillsboro Thursday still in search of its first win of the season as the Indians won a 64-44 nonconference contest.

The Tigers will look to crack the win column Saturday when they host Zane Trace.
