Ryan Freel, who played for five Major League Baseball teams from 2001-2009, was found dead Saturday from an apparent suicide.

First Coast News’ Dan Hicken originally reported the news of Freel’s death. He was most known for his six-year stint with the Cincinnati Reds.

After his 2009 retirement, Freel, 36, was associated with Big League Development. He was a local youth baseball coach.

During his six years in Cincinnati, Freel batted .272 and hit all 22 of his major league home runs with the Reds. After leaving Cincinnati in 2008, he played for Baltimore, Kansas City and the Chicago Cubs.
