The Center for Appalachian Philanthropy was recently added as a partner to the Leave A Legacy of Central Appalachia of Charleston, W.Va., for the upcoming year. Mandy Hart, Director of the Center for Appalachian Philanthropy, founding chairwoman of the organization, calls the new partnership a great thing.

Hart said she was working at Marshall University at the time of the formation of the organization.

“The goal of Leave A Legacy of Central Appalachia, is to try to increase opportunities for individuals in this area to remember local organizations with their estate plan. The organization also seeks to increase planned giving opportunities for individuals and expose other organizations in the area in order to promote philanthropic giving,” Hart said.

According to released information, “Leave A Legacy is an inter-charity organization operating in West Virginia. The Leave A Legacy program focuses on aiding supporters of non-profit organizations in learning more about charitable gifts that can be made through a person’s estate plans while also providing for family needs.”

According to the Leave A Legacy website (www.lalwv.org), “the mission of Leave A Legacy of Central Appalachia is to educate and inspire people from all walks of life to make gifts to their favorite charities through their wills.”
