Lola Allen, 70

Lola L. Allen, 70, of West Portsmouth died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Ohio State University Hospital East in Columbus.

She was born June 4, 1942, in Portsmouth; the daughter of the late Frank and Lyda Layne Gardner. She was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church and retired from the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

Surviving are her husband Kenneth Allen and one daughter Stephanie Allen of Columbus. Also surviving are one sister Audrey Harris of Las Vegas, Nevada and one brother David Gardner of Cincinnati, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister Ruth Elaine Grant, five brothers Levi Gardner, Phillip Gardner, William Gardner, Terry Gardner,and Herb Gardner.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Melcher Funeral Home with The Rev. Ralph Clay officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
