Christine King, 65

Christine Marie King, 65, of New Boston, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at SOMC Hospice. Born Aug. 16, 1947, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Hettie Deemer, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Tammy Bentley of New Boston; one son, Joe Bartley of Minford; her fiancé, Michael Lockhart of New Boston; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Mike Slusher of Stockdale, and one sister, Veda Deemer of South Webster. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one son, Frank Paul Akers, Jr., and two sisters, Donna Jean Deemer and Janet McGlone.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Old Philadelphia Baptist Church with Terry Dingess and Maurice Pierce officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the church Monday after 6 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.
