Rufus Montgomery, 54
Rufus Eugene Montgomery, 54, of Lucasville, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born Oct. 30, 1958, in Newark, Ohio to Monroe and Eula Mae Tackett Montgomery of Lucasville. He was a carpenter and a member of Carpenters Local 437 and a member of United Commercial Travelers. Rufus coached basketball, baseball and football and loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by a brother McCellon “Mac” Montgomery.
Along with his parents, Rufus is survived by his wife Debbie Wise Montgomery who he married on June 24, 1978, at Big Run United Baptist Church in Lucasville, three sons; Jason (Heather) Montgomery of McDermott, Joshua (Sara) Montgomery and Justin Montgomery all of Lucasville, five grandchildren; Austin Kammer, Kloe Montgomery, Gavin Montgomery, Braiden Montgomery and Braxton Montgomery, mother in law Thelma Webb and brother in law David Sargent both of McDermott, six brothers; Oakie, Charlie, Dusty, Kevin, Marvin, and Keith Montgomery and a sister Monica Montgomery. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends especially his mom, dad, wife and kids.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Big Run United Baptist Church in Lucasville with Orville Junior Murray and Marv Carver officiating. Interment will follow in Big Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday starting at 3 p.m. anytime on Tuesday and until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
