If you know a man who is in his 30s, around six feet tall with dark hair, and he can’t explain why he is suddenly missing his fleece jacket, you may want to ask him if the dog ate his coat, or at least ripped it off his back.

According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, sometime between 3 - 7 a.m. Thursday, unknown subjects entered a 2001 Chevrolet Astro Van on Back Street in Lucasville, and took a GPS unit and approximately 20 music CDs. When the victim noticed the missing items, he also noticed a blue and grey checkered fleece jacket with the brand name “Sports Afield,” size large, on his driveway. The victim believes his dog may have pulled the jacket off the thief. He also believes the dog may have bitten the suspect.

The victim told deputies at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a male subject wearing a similar jacket had come to his residence asking if he had any work he could do. That is where the victim came up with the description he believes matches that of the thief. The victim said he was in his 30s, approximately six feet tall, with dark hair and ragged blue jeans.

The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation of the incident.
