Anna Saunders, 81

Anna Marie Saunders, 81, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct.31, 2012, at Hempstead Manor. She was born Oct. 6, 1931, in the Phillip Moore, Jr. Stone House in West Portsmouth to the late Henry Leland and Bessie Leoma Leonard Saunders.

Anna was employed 25 years at the former Williams Manufacturing Co. and had retired from the Portsmouth Public Library as a library clerk after 20 years of service. She was a 1950 graduate of Portsmouth High School, attended Shawnee State University for two years, and she was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Portsmouth.

Surviving Anna is her sister; Rosemary Richards of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death was her brother, William Earl Saunders; and her sister, Lulabell Beagle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with the Rev. Fred Bales officiating. Interment will follow in the Manchester, Ohio Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
